comfrey

Comfrey is sweet and astringent, cool and moist with a secondary drying effect. In my creams it works to moisten dryness; strengthen muscles, tendons, joints and bone; clear bruising, damp heat and inflammation; heal fissures, wounded or torn tissue, old and new scars. The earliest plasters for broken bones were made by herbalists from mashed comfrey mixed with oils and mud.
