horsetail

botanical name:
Equisetum arvense
alternative names:
Joint weed, Nature’s hoover

No Photo here because in most parts of Australia Equisetum arvense is a noxious weed and photos for identification can be found on websites with warnings against cultivation.

Horsetail is bland flavoured, astringent, cold, dry and a bit bitter. It acts in the body to restore, nourish, dissolve and stabilize. Rich with minerals, especially silica and calcium, varieties of horsetail have been used throughout the world since ancient times for building up and regenerating. Added to my creams it helps to dissolve deposits, dry up fluid congestion and inflammation, and to restore musculoskeletal and connective tissue.
